Pat received her BA in Business Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She continued her education at California State University--Northridge Campus, The University of Texas, and completed her Master’s in Educational Administration at Iowa State University. She spent most of her career at the Community College level as an instructor, administrator and director. In addition, she worked for Austin Community College, Hughes Aircraft Company, and Round Rock Hospital.
Pat has been with the Iowa Department of Education for 12 years. For the past four years, she has served as the Administrative Consultant for the Bureau of Career and Technical Education. In this position she works statewide with all things CTE and Perkins. Starting in 2017 she added on the duties of Consultant for Information Solutions and Agriculture Education. Pat served as chair of the National Board for FBLA/PBL in 2008 and is the Past President of the National Association of Career and Technical Education Information (NACTEI). Her awards include the 2009 Distinguished Service Award from the Iowa Business Education Association, Outstanding Career and Technical Educator of the Year in 2009 from IACTE, the 2015 Distinguished Service Award for the Iowa Health Educators Association, and the 2016 Oren Beaty Leadership Award for IACTE. Pat was also a finalist from the Iowa Technology Association for the Women of Innovation Award in 2010.
