Kate Moreland is Director of Collaboration and Community Relations for the Iowa City Area Development Group. Kate leads investor outreach and engagement, including individual and group collaborations pertaining to pressing economic development issues such as workforce development, existing industry, and entrepreneurial development. She also serves as an official collaborative contact for community groups throughout the seven county region known as Iowa’s Creative Corridor, helping to improve our quality of life, business climate, and competitive stake in the global economy.Kate graduated from the University of Iowa Law School in 1997 and practiced law until 2005. Kate has been an adjunct faculty member at Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa College of Law. After leaving the practice of law, Kate was the Development Director for United Action For Youth and most recently worked as Director of Community Relations for the Iowa City Community School District. As a member of the Superintendent’s Executive Cabinet, she coordinated all district communication and developed and maintained active and productive relationships with key community leaders, the press and other organizations.Kate has served on a number of boards including RSVP, Kirkwood’s Workplace Learning Connection Advisory Board, the Iowa Children’s Museum Board, United Way Campaign Committee and United Action for Youth Board of Directors. She currently serves as a member of the planning committee for the Kirkwood Regional High School at the University of Iowa and is on the Board of the Kennedy Center’s Any Given Child Program for the Iowa City Community Schools. Kate received an ISPRA Communication award in 2013 and was awarded the Corridor Business Journal Forty Under 40 in 2011.
