Iowa’s Quality CTE Program Review Tool and Self Study Process Iowa Code chapter 258 mandates the Iowa Department of Education to approve all secondary CTE programs. Accordingly, the department designed a program approval process following extensive review and evaluation of several national program approval models. The guiding principles behind the program approval process include continuous improvement, data-informed decision making, peer review and feedback, and partnership and capacity building. Use of the instrument provides programs, school districts, and Regional Planning Partners the opportunity to drive local program improvement. The indicators are rooted in the tenets which define a strong program. This session will review the self-study instrument as an integral component of the program approval process and share how it may be used to enhance the local needs assessment required in Perkins V. There will be time set aside for questions.
